CLASS POLICIES

CP2 is blessed to have the talents of the best teachers out there for rubberstamping! There isn’t a one of them who wouldn’t be respected and appreciated for their skills anywhere in the country. A lot of work goes into developing a class and preparing the class kits. Most of us realize this and appreciate this. Unfortunately sometimes we’re forgetful. Sometimes life gets in the way. CP2 will actually start enforcing its policies. Class fee must accompany registration for a class. Cancellations must be 48 hours in advance of the class to be refunded; otherwise the teacher will leave a class kit for the no-shows. For the majority of the classes, class space will be available right up to the last minute. When a student is running a little behind, a quick phone call is really appreciated. I hope everyone reading this realizes that it is not intended as a punitive measure, but rather as a way of showing the teachers the respect that they deserve.

Students receive a 15% discount on purchases the day the class is paid for and also the day the class is taken. Class fees are not discounted.

Just a reminder.... label your tools and any stamps that you bring to a class. Many times we find pens or inks that we know are not classroom tools, but we have no way of knowing to whom they should be returned!

Class Kit: BRING YOUR CLASS KIT TO CLASS

Two scissors - one detail, one regular, craft or X-acto knife, bone folder, ruler with metal edge, black ink pad, pencil, eraser, notebook, and either a glue stick or double-sided tape. Specific classes may require special additions, such as colored pencils or specific ink colors.

Paper Play: Susan Kapp:

Tuesdays: 10:30am-12:00pm

$3.00

This is a “drop-in” class – no RSVP needed. You will make one card, but lots of stamping buddies! Susan provides paper, ink, stamps, and imagination; you need to bring your class kit.
You can check out Susan’s classes at her website: www.kappkards@piczo.com

The ATC Group:

4th Saturday of each month: 10am-12pm

no charge

Join in the fun. ATC’s are 2 ½” x 3 ½” pieces of art that you make and trade --- never to be sold. The group sets theme challenges for each month;

The group has agreed on the following monthly themes to finish out the year: August - Fragments and Shards, September - Wanderings, October - Gold to Rust, November - May I have a word?, and December - It's all in your Head.

Wednesdays with Nancy:

10am-12pm

$5.00 (most of the time)

Sometimes we’ll make cards, sometimes we’ll do shrink plastic; sometimes the class will run $5.00, sometimes it will be more. I frequently won’t have a sample to show until class day, but I’ll try to at least be able to tell you what the theme, stamp, or technique will be. I do plan to make a Christmas card each month. Bring your class kit.

Things that go Bump: Mary Noland:

Thursdays, July 1, 8, & 15: 10:30amà

$45.00

This is a multi-dimensional canvas painting. You will use acrylic paints, paper clay, and scrapbook paper. The $45.00 is for all three days. You can work here all day long or start at 10:30 and stay ‘til you’re ready to leave…remembering that the store closes at 5pm. Supplies for class:

1- fine line brush, 1- ½” brush, 1- 1” brush; black &brown micro pens; scissors; paper towels; white glue; a few tooth picks; a bowl for water; and black carbon paper. This is our first class preparing Halloween decorations this year!

Zentangle Day:

Friday, July 2: 10:30am-->

no charge

Just for fun. Just for those of us celebrating the 4th with a “staycation”. Bring your paper; bring your pencil and pens. We’ll have ourselves a real good time drawing. If there are enough of us, we’ll do a “round robin”….each person does their starting line and it goes around the group with everyone else adding to it.

CP2 will be closed on Saturday, July 3. Have a safe and sane 4th.

Skulls Rock: Cheryl Valadez:

Saturday, July 10: 10am-1pm

$25.00

Cheryl has gotten really creative with Bombshell skull images and the new Sizzix embossing folders and dies from Tim Holtz. You’ll also use Tim’s distress inks, grunge board, crackle paste, and stamp images.

Classy, Glassy Cards:

Anne Engelhardt: Saturday, July 17: 10am-12:30pm

$28.00

Anne has used her washi paper, downloaded images, and glass shapes to make three lovely, unusual cards.

Beauteous Book:

Anne Engelhardt: Saturday, July 17: 1:30 – 4:00pm

$28.00

You know how I am about books; this is one of my favorites! It is a sewn binding with a cover that uses both bookcloth and washi paper. I must warn you, it looks professional and no one will believe you made it yourself!

Take both of Anne’s classes for $50.00.

Simply Handmade: Kathy Rosecrans:

Saturday, July 24: 1:00-3:30pm

$25.00

Make three outstanding cards with Kathy using some of the new sewing images from Hero Arts. Embellishments include buttons, thread, rickrack, and machine stitching. (If you are machine challenged, never fear, Kathy’s here.)

Doily Delight: Kathy Rosecrans:

Saturday, July 31: 10am-12:30pm

$25.00

Kathy frequently uses lace trim on her cards. Imagine her joy in finding lace doily images in the (where else) 2010 Hero Arts catalog. When you get your cards made, you may not be able to distinguish the real lace from the stamped variety!

Zentangle Day:

Fridays, August 6 & September 3: 10:30am-4pm

no charge

Bring your pencil, pens, and paper and we’ll sit around and Zentangle. If there are enough participants, we’ll round-robin.

Distressed & Embossed: Kathy Rosecrans:

Saturday, August 7: 10am-12pm

$25.00

These wonderful cards are a tribute to Tim Holtz. You will use his new embossing fades, distress inks, and a combination of TH images and Kathy’s favorite, Hero Arts. Great cards made with great techniques.

Message Flowers: Sue LaMeer:

Saturday, August 7: 1-3:30pm

$20.00

Each of these cards looks like a beautiful floral card, and, of course, they are. However, Sue has made little hidden pockets for tags so that each can have a secret message.

Sea Creations: Kathy Rosecrans:

Saturday, August 14: 10am-12pm

$25.00

Tattered Angels, the Glimmer Mist people, have a few sets of stamps. This ocean series is really special, as you can see from Kathy’s cards. We may live in the desert, but we can appreciate the beauties of the ocean and beach.

Babes and Bones: Cheryl Valadez:

Saturday, August 14: 1-4pm

$25.00

Do you know anyone else that would decide to combine the Bombshell Babes with their skulls?

Cheryl is either warped or has a great appreciation for “Momento Mori” art. (hum, maybe both!)

Each of these two cards is a work of art!

Castle Workshop: Annie Onderdonk:

Saturday, August 21: 10am-12:30pm

$30.00

Yeah! Annie’s back with another opportunity to collage. Annie has a bookboard castle kit for each of you (this is a limited enrollment class). She’ll bring some paper and findings and get you started. This is a workshop. You will be doing your own thing. You may decide that this should become a book. You may want to frame one or more of the sections. This class promotes freedom of expression.

Yee Ha: Sue LaMeer:

Saturday, August 21: 1:30-4pm

$25.00

Two wonderful Southwest images – a cowboy and a cow skull – are the focal points of these two cards. Sue will have you using grunge board, embossing fades, and crackle paint. What fun!

Treasure Box: Anne Engelhardt:

Saturday, August 28: 1-4pm

$

If you take this class, I think you’ll be amazed and impressed with yourself. You start with pieces of bookboard, paper, a little bookcloth and MAKE a box. It is fantastic.

An Altoid Shrine: Teresa Stoa:

Saturday, September 4: 10am->->->

$35.00

Teresa has taken two Altoid tins, several images, feathers, and lots of imagination to make a shrine to a crow (or raven); you can enshrine an owl if you prefer. Things to add to your kit: a paint brush, black ink pad, brown pigment ink pad, dauber or sponge,  a few personal charms.

Sewing Cards #2: Kathy Rosecrans:

Saturday, September 11: 10am-12pm

$25.00

These cards feature retro pattern cover models (circa 1965) from the new Hero Arts collection.

Copic Primer: Cheryl Valadez:

Saturday, September 11: 1-3pm

$25.00

Cheryl is a wizardess when it comes to coloring and shading with Copic Markers… and now she has been certified by the company as a teacher. (I have to admit, I wondered who would be teaching whom in this class.) This is a techniques class; it is not about making a beautiful card in class, but rather learning the tips and techniques for all your future copic-colored cards. Cheryl will also cover making good buying choices when it comes to color choices and understanding the markings on your markers. When you’re spending $6.50 each, it only makes sense to spend a couple of hours learning about care, storage, etc.

Off Center Folk Art Festival:

Sunday, September 12: 10am-5pm: Robinson Park

Many of CP2’s fine teachers and clients will have booths at this summer event – art in the park.

There are lots of trees, but my personal experience leads me to suggest wearing a hat and plenty of sun screen.

Steampunk Beauty: Cheryl Thorpe:

Saturday, September 18: 10am-2pm

$40.00

Cheryl has wonderful things for you to use to create this masterpiece worthy of a magazine spread. You’ll use a cool wooden box, numerous little vials, an oversized image, melted wax, tissue, gears, and a little frame.

All Hallow’s Eve: Cheryl Valadez:

Saturday, September25: 1-4pm

$25.00

This is one of Cheryl’s favorite themes. Expect great cards in this class. (the samples are not available as I write this, so please, remember to check out both the CP2 blog, as well as Cheryl’s blog.
