Nancy
Kreischer is an Albuquerque native. (I
remember her from high school!) Stamping is new to Nancy, as she is a doll artist - check out
her State Fair entries in the soft bodied dolls. Lightening struck when she discovered
stamped faces.... and some of the supplies and embellishments that stampers use.
CINDY MACGILLIVRAY is a natural talent who studies very hard to
perfect her art. She is addicted to big, beautiful coffee-table art books.
She is also addicted to surfing the web for the best stamp art sites. In
her former lives, she has mastered the big church organ and stained glass
making. Her interest in stamping began during her career as a nightclub
singer (oh, okay. I don't think Cindy ever was a nightclub singer, I was
just seeing if you really read this stuff!)
ANNIE ONDERDONK is a veteran artist with experience designing and
making jewelry for stores and galleries. She has sold her wonderful dolls
at arts and crafts shows. She is frequently to be found at ArtStreet which
is an Albuquerque program for artists to mentor homeless artists. Annie
has been stamping about ten years and has had numerous pieces published in
SOMERSET STUDIO.
NANCY YOSHIMOTO - oh, hey - that's me. My background is floral design.
I began working with flowers while I was still in college. My husband and
I bought a shop a few years later and he ran the office and I ran the
design room. I have been stamping for about ten years. It all began with a
visit to THE STAMP OF APPROVAL when they were in Old Town. I really fell
for embossing!--- but I only used it at Christmas. Then, about ten years
ago, Susan Hawkins, one of our floral designers, went to a show and took a
15 minute class where they embossed and then colored with markers. Oh wow!
We are talking about bells and whistles going off. Well, the other
designers and I started stamping, started carrying stamps at the shop, and
offering classes. The stamp display kept growing - my husband was afraid
we were going to take over the sales area. Then we heard that China
Phoenix was going out of business. What started as a visit to buy a little
inventory ended with me having a stamp store! I hope it isn't illegal to
have this much fun at work!
